Updated 29 October 2026. 9th class model papers for 2026-27 are the same for all nine Punjab boards, because the boards set papers under one common scheme prepared by PECTAA. For the annual exam 2027, no smart syllabus has been announced yet, so the papers will cover the full 9th class textbooks unless a new notification is issued. Below is the current status, the paper layout, links to every board’s page, and how to get the most out of model papers.
9th Class Model Paper 2026-27: Key Points
| Applies to | Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and DG Khan boards |
| Prepared by | PECTAA (model papers and pairing schemes) |
| Annual exam | 2027 |
| Smart syllabus 2027 | Not announced as of 29 October 2026 |
What Changed Last Year
For the 2026 annual exam, Punjab introduced a smart syllabus for grades 9 and 10. In November 2025 PECTAA reissued the grade 9 smart syllabus after correcting errors in the science subjects, and released pairing schemes and model papers with it. That arrangement was for 2026. For 2027, students should follow the full syllabus until told otherwise; details are on our Punjab smart syllabus 2026-27 page.
9th Class Paper Layout
- Objective (MCQs): answered on a separate sheet in a fixed time.
- Subjective: short questions and long questions with internal choice.
- Practicals: for physics, chemistry, biology and computer science, held separately from the theory paper.
Each subject’s model paper shows the exact number of questions and marks. The pairing scheme shows which chapters are combined in each section, so you know how much of the book each question can come from.
9th Class Subjects by Group
Model papers are issued for every subject, so first make sure you have the papers for your own group:
- Compulsory for all: English, Urdu, Islamiyat (or Ethics for non-Muslim students), Pakistan Studies and Tarjama-tul-Quran.
- Science group: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Computer Science.
- Arts (humanities) group: General Mathematics plus elective subjects such as Education, Civics, Economics, History, Home Economics or a language, depending on what your school offers.
Some papers, such as English and Mathematics, are held in two groups (first and second) on the same day, so check which group your roll number slip shows.
Board-Wise 9th Class Model Papers
| Board | Model papers & smart syllabus page |
|---|---|
| BISE Lahore | Lahore Board 9th class model papers |
| BISE Gujranwala | Gujranwala Board 9th, 10th class model papers |
| BISE Faisalabad | Faisalabad Board 9th, 10th class model papers |
| BISE Rawalpindi | Rawalpindi Board 9th, 10th class model papers |
| BISE Sargodha | Sargodha Board 9th, 10th class model papers |
| BISE Multan | Multan Board 9th, 10th class model papers |

| BISE DG Khan | DG Khan Board 9th, 10th class model papers |
How to Use 9th Class Model Papers
- Study the chapter from the textbook first; model papers test, they do not teach.
- Attempt the full paper in the real time limit, then mark it yourself honestly.
- Note every question you could not answer and go back to that topic.
- Practise neat presentation: headings, diagrams and labels earn marks in subjective answers.
- Close to the exam, add your own board’s past papers to see how questions are worded.
Old Model Papers on Board Websites
Several board websites still host model papers uploaded years ago for the old course. They help you understand the format, but chapters and marks may not match the books you are studying now. For content, the current textbook and PECTAA’s material come first.
