It is a fact that education is like a blood for our nation. If other provinces our country have been making distinct progress in the sector of education then how can Gilgit Baltistan be left behind? We cannot ever and ever overlook the need of strong and quality education in Gilgit Baltistan. If this region will be having educated inhabitants then this region will be having sustainable development. It has been according to the Pakistan Education Statistics (2010-11) that 2918 educational institutions have been working here. 1715 of them are public. 1203 of them are private institutions. 47 percent of the students have been enrolled in the private educational institutions.

The number of private schools in Gilgit Baltistan has been mounting day by day. Parents are now getting more conscious with regard to the studies of their children. Though parents have been facing financial challenges but they are ready to pay high fees.
GB has 55,651 students at public middle schools, among them 32,332 are boys and just 23,319 are girls.
It is also seen that the number of educational institutions in GB have been quite low as compared to the other provinces.
We have improved situation in high schools, there enrollment goes to 69,134, among them 42,098 are boys and about 27,036 are girls.
A survey has been conducted by ASER; they revealed that the students from the schools of GB are at better intelligence scale as compared to the students of other provinces of Pakistan. We can say that the students of Gilgit Baltistan have more potential if their schooling and teaching system will be improved more.
In Gilgit Baltistan, we have been seeing a wide gap when it comes to the enrollment between the boys and also the girls in the educational institutions. This issue of gender disparity should be sorted out.
Almost all of the public schools in Gilgit Baltistan lack basic facilities.
In Diamer, district of Gilgit-Baltistan having an estimated population of 200,000. Just four girls attend middle school. It is because of the insufficient government resources and also cultural biases that we have been seeing this situation in the sector education.
