It was set up my commemorate Lord Mayo, the British Viceroy in India, who was later assassinated in 1872 which made Lockwood Kipling the first principal along with his curator as the curator of Lahore Museum. NCA is the most advanced and well-equipped Arts College and is declared the best arts college in Pakistan by HEC in their latest Ranking display. The University of Management and Technology was founded in 1990 as an institute named the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). The foundation was laid by many experts, professionals, and educationists. UMT is an independent and not-for-profit private institution for higher and advanced learning. The university received its charter under the name of the Institute of Management and Technology in 2002 through a combined act passed by the government of Punjab. Later on 16 June 2004 was named the University of Management and Technology UMT.
