Allama Muhammad Iqbal

(9^th November, 1877 – 21^st April, 1938) is known as one of the famous Urdu poet of Pakistan (Poet of East). He started poetry from his early years of age, while after completing masters in philosophy he starts poetry in both languages Urdu and Persian. His first poetry book was appeared in Persian language named “Asrar-e-Khudi” in 1915 and then he write a number of famous poetry books in Urdu and Persian.He enlightens the thinking of Muslim to live independently with his new innovative and creative poetry. He was also a politician just to lead Muslims to achieve dream of Pakistan. So, being a politician he took special steps to awake the youngsters of Muslims with his famous “Allahabad Address” in which he give the thinking of Muslim State in Northwest India. Iqbal admitted in a Mosque for learning Quran from his teacher Syed Mir Hassan. Later he attended the Scotch Mission College and then Murray College Sialkot in 1895. Then he attended Government College Lahore and got bachelors of Arts in Philosophy and then he receives masters of Arts degree from GC College (now university) Lahore. After this he goes to Europe for higher education in Law and Philosophy in England and returns to Pakistan and attached with poetry

Hafeez Jullundhri

(14^th January, 1900 – 21 December 1982) is also known as the famous Urdu Poet of Pakistan. He supports the ideology of Allama Muhammad Iqbal to format a new state for Muslims and done a good work with Quaid-e-Azam to keep aware the Muslims of that time. Hafeez Jullundhri wrote the lyrics for the National Anthem of Pakistan (Qaumi Tarana). Jullundhri was a monumental Urdu Poet dealing with religious, romantic, and natural themes. He was awarded with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance awards for his patriot poetry and literary services. One of his famous editions that give him a peak of fame is “Firdowsi’s Shahnama” which is a narration of Islamic history in verse.

Josh Malihabadi

(5^th December, 1898 – 22^nd February, 1982) was a famous Urdu Poet of Pakistan who done notable work in poetry, literacy with Urdu pure takhallus with a passion and intensity. He was a British Indian national before the partition of Pakistan but later 1947 he migrated from India to Pakistan and adopts the nationality of Pakistan. His real name is “Josh”, while he lived in Malihabad in India and that’s why people start calling him as “Josh Malihabadi”. His father’s name was Bashir Ahmed Khan who belongs to Afridi Pashtun Muslin family lived in United British, Inida in Malihabad. His education was done from St Peter’s College and then after completing senior Cambridge studies he attended the Tagore’s University at Shantiniketan. His career was start with a deep relationship with literacy as he join Osmania University in 1925 for supervise translation work in this university. This work spark poetry in himself and he start writing nazms and then in 1958 after migration to Pakistan he start writing poetry in Pure Urdu with Takhllus for Pakistan. He won Padma Bhushan and Hilal-e-Imtiaz award for his worthless poetry that will be alive till the world.

Faiz Ahmed Faiz

(13^th February, 1911 – 20^th November, 1984) is also a famous Urdu poet of Pakistan who done intellectual and revolution in Urdu literacy with his impressive urdu poetry. He has been awarded four times for Nobel Prize of literature. Beside Urdu he has write in Punjab, Persian, English and Russian poetry and was a notable member of the progressive writer’s movement and an avowed Marxist and won Lenin Peace Prize by the Soviet Union. He influenced the Pakistani literature with his poetry in Ghazals and Nazams. His literature is also being the part of academic syllabus for all levels Matric to master’s level.

Sayeda Parveen Shakir

(24^th November, 1952 – 26^th December, 1994) was a Female poetess whose name is written in golden words among the list of female famous poets of Pakistan. She was also a teacher and civil servant who done notable work for Urdu literature and academia. She starts writing from very early age and her first romantic poetry album was released in 1976 named “Khushbu”. Later, she subsequently published a number of volumes of poetry in Ghazalyaat, Plays, and nazams. She was honored with “Pride of Performance” award for outstanding contribution to literature. Her famous books are ‘Mag e Tamam’, ‘Kaf e Aina’, ‘Khud Kalami’ and Inkar.

Amjad Islam Amjad

(4^th August, 1944) is a renowned name in Pakistani Poets who raise his name and fame as a poet, Drama Writer and Lyricist. He has won the awards for his poetry and literacy “pride of Performance” and “Sitara-e-Imtiaz”. He is originally belonged to Sialkot while they migrated to Lahore Pakistan during the partition of British India and Pakistan. In Lahore he attended the local state school and then receives the graduate degree from Government Islamia College Civil Lines, Lahore. Later for masters he attended the University of Punjab and got degree in Masters of Arts in Urdu Literature. His career was start as a lecturer in Government MAO College Lahore and then become director at Pakistan TV Corporation. His famous books are ‘Us Par’, ‘Barzakh’, ‘Fisher’, and ‘Sehar aasar.

Fahmida Riaz

(28^th July, 1946) is a female poetess among famous Urdu Poet of Pakistan. She writes poetry on romance, Ikhlaqiyat and adbiyat. She has won Al-Muftah Award for her worthless poetry and literacy. Her notable books are “Goodaavari” and “Khatt-e-Marmuz”. She has also translated the works of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (a Soofi Poet) and “Shaikh Ayaz” from Sindhi to Urdu. She belongs to a literary family as her father ‘Riaz-ud-Din Ahmed was an educationist who promotes the modern educational system for Sindh. Fahmida Riaz has wrote a number of famous books including “Pathar Ki Zaban”, “Godavari” “Badan Darida”, “Dhoop” and “Ye Khana e Aab O Gil”.
