What is a Blog?

What is a Blog?. So you want to know what a blog is. Strange isn’t it? In 2024 even the mockingbird knows what a blog is. Don’t ask him though because he doesn’t like to tell anyone the secrets behind his illuminating wisdom. Oh, you still want to know about the blog? Oh no here comes the dead boring part of explanation. Blog in its origin was not a blog. Not an interesting thing to say, but that is what is like it. Its name was actually “weblog”. A weblog is a log of open-flowing content on the internet. It can be owned by anyone and everyone. You can make a blog if you want to right this instant. Oh, I forgot to tell you, weblog was later jokingly converted into “we blog” by a writer and then the term of blogging and bloggers.

What is a Blog Post?

Now the content has to be in reverse chronological order. If you don’t understand English, then it means the last message being displayed at the first slot. All the content is meant to be public but in some situations, it is restricted to invitation. But that’s rare because blogs are just meant to be public. Blogs are a way of open sharing on the internet. Everybody can express their views and share their thoughts and experiences mutually.  The blog has to be updated every day or it loses viewer interest.

Blogs can also be described as journals that keep the entries of the writer with the added benefit of other people equally sharing their over and about the content. The original entry is usually called a blog post though the rest can be called as same. These blog entries or posts are in an easy conversational style, though they can easily follow any writing style. They can be hard-core humor or so boring they yawn with sleep. Anyway, the point is it can be anything at all and in any way you want it to be.

Blogs are of every kind of nature. There are educational blogs that are meant to keep posting the course works, open discussions on subject matters, collaborate on projects and assignments, and so on. This is a very convenient way for teachers to keep a healthy discussion environment which gives the opportunity to the shyest people to speak up and express their views without any hesitation or shyness. It can bloom their personalities like no other thing can. The courage to speak up gradually develops in them and one day they get the guts to speak up in public as well.

Today, nearly every known or virtually unknown celebrity has a blog. They keep on rambling on about their exciting or pathetic lives and people stalk them like crazy. Even their pets’ photos get hundreds of likes. I once saw a photo of a fly put on by a celebrity on Twitter that had hundreds of comments and likes on it and everyone was so consumed with discussing the intricate inner workings of the lonely fly that one thought “What the hell”. Anyway, this is one aspect of a blog that I’m telling, there are thousands of others as well but let’s keep it to this till now.
